LocalPoll ("we", "us", "our") is committed to protecting your privacy. This policy explains what data we collect, how we use it, and your choices.

What we collect

When you create an account:

• Email address
• US state (used to show you regional poll results)
• Your votes — which polls you answered and which option you chose

When you use guest mode:

• A randomly generated anonymous ID stored locally on your device
• Your votes, tied to that anonymous ID — not to your name or email

We do not collect your real name, phone number, location beyond your self-reported state, or any payment information.

How we use your data

• To show you your vote history and regional breakdowns
• To generate your Aura — a personality profile based on your voting patterns
• To display aggregate poll results (always shown as percentages, never individually identifying)
• To send you password reset emails if requested

We do not sell your personal data. We do not use your data for advertising. We do not share your individual votes with anyone. We may share or license anonymized, aggregated poll results (e.g., vote distributions by state) with researchers, media, or partners — this data cannot identify you individually.

Third-party services

We use the following services to operate LocalPoll:

• Supabase — database and authentication (your account data lives here)
• Vercel — web hosting

Both are US-based services. We do not use advertising networks, tracking pixels, or social media SDKs.

Cookies and local storage

We store your session token and anonymous guest ID in your browser's local storage so you stay logged in between visits. We do not use third-party tracking cookies.

Data retention

Account data is retained for as long as your account is active. Guest voting data tied to a device ID is retained until that data is cleared from your device or your device ID expires. You can request deletion at any time by emailing us.

Your rights

You can:

• Request a copy of your data
• Request deletion of your account and associated data
• Use guest mode to vote without creating an account

Children

LocalPoll is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect data from anyone under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will delete it.

Business transfers

If LocalPoll is acquired, merged, or its assets are sold, user data may be transferred to the acquiring entity as part of that transaction. We will notify users via email or a prominent notice on this site before data becomes subject to a different privacy policy.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as the app evolves. Material changes will be noted with a new "Last updated" date at the top of this page.
